SEA arrival planner / Downtown Seattle
Start with the exact downtown door. Then choose Link, advance-reserved Taxi, private Shuttle, or another airport option based on the station walk, final mile, flight timing, people, and bags.
Choose the right page for the decision
For a traveler with manageable luggage near a station, Link is usually the clearest budget answer. For a party that needs one airport meeting, child seats, luggage-matched capacity, or an exact hotel entrance, compare a confirmed Taxi or private Shuttle quote. This page helps you choose the correct decision path.

Shuttle from SEA Airport to Downtown SeattleThe downtown stop changes the final mile
From SEA baggage claim, Sound Transit directs travelers toward carousel 16, up to the skybridge level, across Skybridge 6, and left through the parking garage to SeaTac/Airport Station. Take a northbound 1 Line train, then exit at the station that minimizes the final trip with your actual bags.
| Downtown station | Often useful for | Final-mile check |
|---|---|---|
| International District/Chinatown | King Street Station, Chinatown–International District, stadium area, and the south edge of Pioneer Square | Confirm the exact block; some destinations still need a walk, local transit, or car. |
| Pioneer Square | Pioneer Square and the south end of the central business district | Street grades, luggage, and the property entrance determine whether the walk is practical. |
| Symphony | Central business district, Seattle Art Museum area, and some downtown hotels | Do not assume a Waterfront hotel is an easy level walk from the station. |
| Westlake | Retail core, Pike Place area, Westlake Center, Monorail connection, and south Belltown | Belltown, South Lake Union, Seattle Center, and cruise terminals may need another connection. |
Baggage claim to final entrance
A landing time is not passenger-ready time. Finish arrival processing, collect every bag, and keep the supplied phone reachable.
Link, taxis, app rides, scheduled shuttles, and pre-arranged vehicles use different paths. Follow the current operator or booking instructions.
Check the downtown station exit, walk, grade, weather, property entrance, or onward car before treating any option as complete.
Quick planning answers
Sound Transit currently publishes about 38 minutes between SEA and the heart of downtown on Link, before the airport-station walk and final walk or connection. A road vehicle can be faster in clear conditions or slower during airport, I-5, construction, event, or downtown congestion.
The current adult one-way Link fare is $3. Youth 18 and under currently ride free, and reduced-fare programs have separate eligibility rules. Check Sound Transit again for the travel date because fares and service can change.
Use the station closest to the exact hotel, office, venue, or onward connection—not simply the station labeled downtown. International District/Chinatown, Pioneer Square, Symphony, and Westlake serve different parts of central Seattle.
No. Pier 91 is the Smith Cove cruise terminal north of downtown. Pier 66 is on the downtown waterfront. A cruise trip should name the ship and correct pier rather than using a generic Downtown Seattle destination.
Consider one when the party has several bags, young children, child-seat needs, mobility equipment, a late arrival, an exact Waterfront or South Lake Union entrance, multiple passengers, or a fixed meeting or cruise deadline.
